Noel A. Emmanuelli, ND discusses what surgical weight loss patients can expect before and after surgery.
NOEL A. EMMANUELLI: The team members you're going to meet when you come in to see us, their first encounter is going to be with Dr. de la Cruz. Well, you're going to see him at seminar first. Then, you're going to meet him in his first, initial visit. And once you're done with him, you're going to see one of the patient advocates. So you are going to be assigned a patient advocate who's going to be responsible for getting you through the whole procedure. They will talk to your insurance companies. They'll meet all-- they'll figure out what kind of requirements you have in place that you need to meet. And they'll walk you through that entire process. Eventually, you'll come and see me. I'm the dietitian, and we'll have your assessment. And we'll complete whatever requirements that your insurance company needs from my end. You'll meet the nurse practitioner, Jennifer, who handles a lot of day to day things here in the office, in terms of medications and prescriptions and filling out forms and ordering of tests. And that's the entire complement. So you're pretty much going to meet everybody. And even if your patient advocate isn't here the day that you come in, one of the other patient advocates will be a abreast of what's going on. So they will also know what it is that you're going to need. So it's not that you can only deal with one person, everyone's going to know where you're going to stand and what you're going to need to get done.
